Latina NJ therapist

About Melanie

I'm Melanie Carrión, LCSW, CCTP — a bilingual, Latina therapist providing virtual therapy across New Jersey.

I became a therapist because I know what it's like to be the strong one. The translator. The fixer. The one everyone calls when something falls apart, who somehow never has anyone to call when she's the one falling apart. I've watched people I love do everything right, whether it is work hard, show up, take care of everyone, and still not believe they've earned the right to rest. I started this practice because I wanted to be in the room (even a virtual one) when someone finally lets that go.

I work with first-generation and BIPOC adults navigating anxiety, burnout, trauma, and the quiet exhaustion of trying to be everything to everyone. A lot of my clients are high-functioning — they look like they have it together, and most of the time, they do, but underneath, there's often a voice telling them good things aren't supposed to last for someone like them. If that sounds familiar, I get it and I don't think it has to stay that way.

My approach blends cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR, psychodynamic work, and trauma-informed, culturally responsive care, but more than any modality, what I bring to this work is presence. I'm not here to fix you. I'm here to witness you: the parts that are struggling, and the parts that are already growing, even when that growth is hard to see from the inside.

Your parents did what they could with what they had. It's okay if it's now up to you to do something different. That doesn't mean walking away from where you came from — it means learning what it feels like to finally choose yourself, too.

You are enough. You are worthy of success, of love, of tranquility, exactly as you are. I'd be honored to walk alongside you while you learn to believe that.

Sol y Soul’s Mission

My mission is simple: to be in your corner while you learn to believe you were always worthy of the life you've been working so hard to earn. To witness your growth, remind you of your worth, and walk alongside you while you finally choose yourself. To also make sure that language, culture, and identity are never barriers to healing, and that every person who walks through this door feels seen, not just treated.

If you're ready to put some of it down, I'd love to talk.
